In short

Place
Garðabær
Surfaces
Kitchen island, worktops and sink cut-out
System
Ready-mixed microcement, waterproof in every layer

Worktops are precision work: edges, corners and the sink cut-out have to be dead straight, and the lacquer has to stand up to daily kitchen use. The island was clad in one piece, sides and top together, so no line shows anywhere.

The sink is set straight into the worktop and the microcement runs down into the opening. It gives a cleaner look than a sink sitting on top, and there is no joint around the sink to collect dirt.

On worktops we use the ready-mixed system, which is waterproof in every layer, and a lacquer that stands up to wine, coffee and oil. Hot pans on a trivet and cutting on a board, as on any quality worktop.
